Educational Enrichment Foundation gets $10,000

The Educational Enrichment Foundation was the real winner of the KB Home Tucson Putt-Putt Open when tournament champions selected the non-profit organization to receive the $10,000 grand prize Nov. 7.

More than 800 people attended the inaugural event at Golf N' Stuff Family Fun Park, which raised more than $25,000 in support of the Glassman Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising resources for non-profit organizations that provide services to Tucson area youth.

The fund-raiser centered around a miniature golf tournament where each foursome played for their own children's charity. The winning foursome received $10,000 for their organization.

The shotgun start began with the playing of "Bear Down Arizona" by the UA Pep Band.

The parking lot of Golf N' Stuff was filled with vendors serving roasted corn, cotton candy, snow cones, Kettle Korn, and barbecued food donated by Pinnacle Peak restaurant.

Along the 36-hole course, golfers had an opportunity to win various prizes for a hole in one, including etiquette classes from Carrie Click at Click on Etiquette, satellite radio from the Specialists, spa treatments and hair services from Emery Nicoletti at Metropolis Salons, and a one-month lease of a Hummer courtesy of Royal Automotive.

Additionally, a large silent auction, benefiting Casa De Los Niños, offered items such as sports memorabilia and travel packages.

The winning team was sponsored by Bob Strauss, who operates the The Strauss Foundation. Greg Rabino, head golf pro at Ventana Golf Resort, led the foursome, which shot 42 under par.

Those in attendance included Jim Click, Marana Mayor Bobby Sutton, Burt Kinerk, Larry Cesare, Dee Dee Samet and Neal Weitman.

Also in attendance were Shelly and Terri Gibbons; Anne Dutton; Greg and Ari Foster; Phil Amos; Bill Gaylord; Bobby Rich from 94.9 FM; and Allen Kath.
